STATEMENT OF BELIEFS

“May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

— John 17:23

These statements outline historical Christian essentials and our shared aspirations to be united in Christ.

GOD: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We surrender to and worship the one true God: the Father who created all things, Jesus the Son who redeemed us from sin, and the Holy Spirit who seals our salvation.

  1. Ultimate Loyalty: Our total commitment belongs to the Father who is over all, Jesus who is Lord and Christ, and the Holy Spirit who empowers us to overcome sin (Acts 2:22-36, Romans 8:12-28).

  2. Christ as the Cornerstone: Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith; our beliefs and lifestyle originate entirely from his words and example (John 3:16, 1 John 2:5-6).

  3. Eternal Purpose: We exist to know God, glorify Him, and reflect His light so that others may see Him (Matthew 5:14-15, Ephesians 3:19-20).

GOSPEL: The Work of God

Our faith centers on the gospel events in Jerusalem: the suffering, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. This work of atonement offers grace, mercy, and the promise of salvation to all people.

  1. Salvation by Grace: Salvation depends entirely on God’s grace, not our merit. We receive this gift through faith and baptism into Christ for spiritual rebirth (Ephesians 2:8-10, Acts 2:38, Colossians 2:11-14).

  2. Global Mission: Every member participates in sharing the gospel worldwide, pairing our testimony with a Christ-like life of doing good (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 10:37-38).

  3. Motivated by Love: Our drive to love God, the church, and the lost is directly prompted by Christ's sacrificial love on the cross (2 Corinthians 5:14-21, 1 John 3:16).

THE INDIVIDUAL: The Surrender of God’s Children

As disciples, we submit to the lordship of Jesus, rejoice in our adoption as God’s children, and commit to daily holiness.

  1. Daily Discipleship: Following Christ requires a daily decision to deny self, surrender to His lordship, and persevere (Luke 9:23, 14:33).

  2. Conversion and Rebirth: Conversion involves faith in Jesus, repentance of sin, a confession of His lordship, and immersion in water for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-41, Romans 10:9, Titus 3:3-5).

  3. Holy Living: We are commanded to be sanctified—set apart from the ways of the world to live as God's saints (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8, 1 John 2:15-17).

  4. Compassion for the Poor: We are committed to regularly remembering, serving, and easing the burdens of the poor and suffering (Galatians 2:10).

COMMUNITY: Fellowship and Strengthening

Through baptism, we are united into one body, sharing a new life, the Holy Spirit, and the hope of heaven. This unity builds healthy, growing congregations that glorify God.

  1. Church Membership: Membership consists of baptized disciples dedicated to holiness and church life. Members strive to attend gatherings regularly, build deep "one another" relationships, and cooperatively engage with the broader International Churches of Christ (Romans 12:10, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13).

  2. The Lord’s Supper: We regularly partake in Communion as a sacred community remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice (1 Corinthians 10:17-34).

  3. Sacrificial Giving: Acknowledging that everything comes from God, we cheerfully and sacrificially contribute our finances to advance Christ's ministry locally and globally (2 Corinthians 9:7-14, Philippians 4:14-19).

RELEVANCE: Applications for Modern Culture

Navigating contemporary cultural issues requires biblical reflection, conviction, and courage to preserve our unity.

  1. Women in Ministry: We affirm and support women in vital ministry roles, including teaching and training other women, and recognize their profound influence across the church (Titus 2:3-4, Acts 18:24-26, Romans 16:1-15).

  2. Godly Relationships: Christians are to pursue romantic and marriage relationships exclusively with those who belong to the Lord (1 Corinthians 7:39, 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1).

  3. Autonomous Yet Connected: Local congregations hold independent decision-making responsibilities, yet we resolve to maintain healthy links with sister churches—actively seeking and giving godly input (1 Peter 5:5).

  4. Respectful Communication: All communication, both within the church and with the public, must always be genuine, respectful, and non-antagonistic (1 Peter 2:17).
